If you put on some extra pounds over the holidays then you are no longer welcome in the dating site BeautifulPeople.com – the dating site was often compared to a high school bully due to the fact that they underestimate and belittle the potentials of members who has gained weight.

The site expelled about 5,000 members already under these grounds. Robert Hintze, the founder of the site, said that “Letting fatties roam the site is a direct threat to our business model and the very concept for which BeautifulPeople.com was founded.” Those in charge blamed the member’s overindulges and stated that they have been sending notifications via email in regards to their weight gain.

Should the expelled members lose weight and become fit again, they are always welcome to reapply for membership. According to the site, the expulsion was not done in a harsh manner. Each member was given an email that encouraged them to reapply when they are back to their old form. They also have sent details of recommended boot camps to help them get back in shape. Nevertheless, reading an email that says you are too fat to be a member of a social network can be one of the worst rejections that anyone can have. A lot of people have treated this as a public stunt while some hated the fact that the site was too prejudice.

The decisions as to whether a member has gained weight or not was made based on the photos of the members that were posted to the dating site.
